The term ‘goods only lift’ encompasses a large range of lift types, including dumbwaiter lifts, vehicle lifts and freight lifts. As the name suggests, they are for goods only rather than passengers and therefore have some different characteristics (although the actual machinery is fairly similar). Some features of goods only lifts are not having buttons inside the lift, often the walls are made from heavy duty materials, they may have manual rather than automatic doors and they do not have to comply with DDA regulations or safety regulations relating to passenger lifts.
